Now I know....we are probably all at the point where enjoy and winter cannnot be used in the same sentence. However, I must put on a brave face for my kids. Even last night Gabe came down the stairs (after about 10 minutes of being in bed). I asked what was wrong, and he started crying...mom I just want spring to come sooo bad! So we sat for a few minutes and I asked him what he missed most about the warmer seasons...and then we drew w picture of all of us at his favorite place...Hop Frog Pond AKA: Thorncrag Bird Sanctuary. In the picture we are all standing around the upper pond watching him approach a huge bull frog that he wants to catch. He took the picture up to bed and I'm sure fell asleep dreaming of summer sun, bull frog calls, and mosquito bites (yes in these bitter cold days even mosquito bites can seem like something to look forward to).
Anyway to distract ourselves from the bitter cold and growing longing for sunny days of frog catching we are doing our best to enjoy winter. This past weekend we went sledding, played on a frozen pond and got to have a real sleigh ride at Harvest Hills Farm. It was tons of fun. An awesome big kid date as Grandma took care of Ben for us! The hill for sledding was super slick fast...not big mind you but steep and make your tummy flutter fast. It was crazy. Gabe and Jaden both went down on their own, we did not let Ean as weren't sure he would be able to hold on for dear life! We decided after a couple runs that going down the side of the hill at the half way mark was really enough. Anyway here are some pictures and video of the fun.
Ean and I crashing into the snow bank...
