We celebrated Christmas today. Just us. (We are celebrating the Johnson Christmas this weekend, cousins on my side on Monday and Lepage Christmas on New Year's Day-whew) It was wonderful and quiet. We opened gifts and stayed in our jammies till noon. I cooked our turkey from Farmer's Gate Market...turkey smells filled the house. The older two boys got rock picks--a wonderful investment in their rock hounding obsession. We bought geodes for them to smash. It was not enough smashing. They wanted more. So we headed over to Mt. Apatite (to satisfy their appetite--haha) for some rock smashing. It was a beautiful day--almost 60 (crazy for December) but we were treated to some spectacular sights. We were not expecting the incredible ice. Ice and rocks--too much fun to smash.
Oh and we got them head lamps too-which they insisted on wearing---goofy boys
I do not know how much "rock hounding" actually occurred during this trip--the new art of rock smashing was... well, more exciting...
As we headed over to the quarries we were treated to a spectacular sight. The water dripping off the ledges into the quarry froze into GIANT icicles....they were easily 10-12 feet long...so we are training them still-- we DID tell them that it was not a good idea to smash the ice while they were standing on it...guess Jaden had plans for Gabe...
....yah we posed them ...aren't they so sweet?
