Sometimes We Are Just Silly

A spontaneous trip to the Salvation Army thrift store resulted in some really silly silliness around here. Before I get too much ahead of myself--rewind. As I perused the thrift store (I love the thrift store--nothing I like better than re-purposing) I came across an old hat (or wig) case. You know the kind--really old looking, tall cylinder. I thought how awesome would that be for Brian's Stormtrooper helmet or Darth Vader? Gabe quickly (and we later discovered rightly) informed me that the Vader helmet would not fit but Stormtrooper would. (I love that my oldest son has the kind of brain that can figure that out--because I do not!) Anyway at $2.99 it was a steal. We made our way into the parking lot with our new treasure when Gabe says "mom you never opened it" (oops talk about being a bad example). We quickly unzipped the ancient case and suddenly there was LOTS of squealing...

There in the center of the case was a styrofoam head. Had we not been in a parking lot I would have been laughing with them as they fought over this wonderous treasure--racing around, wrestling, screaming, giggling with glee and yelling all accompanied this discovery. Somehow I managed to remind them of the CARS driving around the parking lot and wrangle them into the van. Once there, the silliness only escalated. "Head" as they dubbed him quickly was buckled and unbuckled in his seat. Then he was waving at passing vehicles. Then he managed to perch atop Gabe's head and be zipped into a sweatshirt. He managed to stay that way all the way home and walked into the house to greet Ben and Ean and Grammy. He spent the afternoon acquiring nostril holes (courtesy of Gabe and a pencil--because nostril holes ARE the most important hole on your face when you are a styrofoam head) and being the object of monkey in the middle.

When time for daddy to come home drew near, he of course regained his perch atop Gabe's head with a sweatshirt. Daddy thought his boys were crazy. Anyway I have no idea what other plans they have for head...I can only imagine.

Ean wanted a turn with Head atop his head...

Doesn't he look so cute with his new glasses?
