April Fun

We had a wonderful Easter. The kids had a blast hunting for eggs and of course driving the go-kart and golf kart. We even had an Easter photo shoot--and Brian and I now have pictures of just the two of us together! Imagine that.
Ben even got in on the egg hunt action....

Now we make the jump from Easter and eggs to night crawlers....on warm, drizzly spring nights our yard comes to life. Our WHOLE yard. Simply take a step onto the grass and shine your flashlight...and the ground is COVERED with night crawlers. They are incredibly fast and slip back into their holes as soon as they sense the light, which makes catching them an art. So for a few nights in a row the big boys, Brian and I went out after dark in search of these tasty treats (for the chickens of course).

A nights worth of catching...
These guys are really long averaging about 9 inches, when they are scrunched up they are as thick as my pinky finger.

So our nights of worm catching were followed by a trip to a nature preserve in Wells, Maine. It was an old farmstead. We met a college friend of mine there with her two kids. I love this picture, Ean is crying because we are on our way back and he is mad because he is cold and wet and wants to continue playing at the beach and go swimming. (notice is is raining and it is only about 50 degrees)

This was a HUGE tree, some of it branches actually had braces to hold them up...
