It's August ...And summer has finally arrived...

If you visited my last post over at Lego Creations you know it has been a RAINY summer. This is hard especially when our summer is already so short--BUT August has been beautiful! We have been soaking every minute of it. One of the new adventures we have embarked upon this summer is purchasing a Maine State Park Pass. The pass is seventy dollars and gets all of us into a bookful of state parks. I say bookful because the pass comes with a "passport" book. Each page of the book gives a brief description of the park and has a stamp spot. Each location has a passport station with a special stamp to put in your stamp spot. Needless to say the kids love getting stamps and exploring new parks. Some of the parks included in the book have geocache sites as well--and these geocache sites also have a special stamp you can imprint in your book. At the risk of sounding cliche --it really is a fun family adventure. So far we have visited Range Pond (who hasn't?),

Wolf Neck Woods (has a geocache site),

 Popham Beach State Park and

 and Reid State Park.

We have plans to visit several more before Columbus Day weekend which is when most of the parks close for the season. Stay tuned for more on our summer tour of the state parks!
